1954 power brake vacuum tank

I have a vacuum tank that I believe is for a '54 stepdown power brake setup. It looks like a Quonset Hut, on the curved surface near the center is a threaded fitting. No other fittings exist. Am I correct that a tee fitting is attached to the threaded fitting with a check valve on the vacuum source side? Was the tank mounted below the passenger floor?

Here's a picture of the vacuum tank location on my 54. There are two fittings, neither of them are threaded, one goes to the check valve and the other goes to the power brake unit
