Fuel Sender (Double Check)

Just double checking (since it is raining today and I need something to do in the garage)...and search is not working here.
Had tank cleaned and sealed. Got new float for arm. Still no reading on gauge.
So, to help, do I need to run a wire from one of the mounting screws of the sender to Ground? -
You need to make sure that both the gauge and the sender are adequately earthed.
The gauge contains two tiny electro magnets, one of them is the constant magnet and is earthed at the gauge, the other is the variable magnet and is earthed at the sender. -
You may not need to run a ground wire(earthed), in addition to the gauge wire. Put some fuel in the tank, say 5 gal. Fasten the sender to the tank with a good gasket between. I would advise a bit of sealant on each of the 5 screws to avoid gas seeping through the screw threads. Once your confidant reconnect the battery and put the ignition key to ON. If the gauge moves, albeit slowly, your OK, but if no movement, an additional ground wire will be necessary. This can occur due to the break in continuity from the thread sealant. Remove one of the top 10/24 screws and fasten a wire to a location that makes a ground on the body/frame. I had to do this on my 50 Caddy, however not the Hudson. Ron. PS before you add more fuel verify that the gauge is accurate. 5 gals should read 1/4 on a stepdown, more or less.

That is my plan. I also have a break in the line somewhere between the trunk and dash. I will not be defeated and will figure this out.
