Survey - Is There a Market for Reproduction of '37-'39 Glovebox Door Springs?
-
Greetings everyone!
According to the Hudson manuals, these 'Glovebox Door Springs' are the same for all '37-'38 Hudson & Terraplane, and '39 Hudson 90,91,92 and 98.
These part numbers were found it in the 'Hudson Master Chassis Group Parts Book, 1930-1939' (page 454):
Locker Box Door Hinge Spring
BO 121078 (right)
BO 121079 (left)
I am looking into the possibility of having these glovebox door springs reproduced. I have been discussing this with Bruce Wylie, who has reproduced similiar springs (one-year only), for the 1936 Hudson Terraplane, and we have traded a few emails on the subject. Based on the background work and research previously done by Bruce, the cost would most likely be equivalent - around $25.00 per pair (only an estimate at this point).
The purpose of this thread is to determine if there is enough 'call', 'market' or need to have these reporoduced (in a small or sufficient quantity to justify/fill the demand).
If you think you might be interested in purchasing a set of these springs (they will only be sold in pairs), please reply to this thread.
Please, also let me be clear -
- Any response to this thread will not involve a 'commitment' on your part;
- I am not accepting money or orders at this time. The purpose here is only to see if there is a 'call', 'need' or market for them.

I'd go for a pair ; possibly 2

I would be up for a couple of pairs. Please keep us posted.

Rick-
From my experience, you are going to sell approx. a dozen of these (15 max), but it will take you a year-and-a-half to do it, providing you keep networking. -
I need at least a pair. But they can be good to have a extra set, so maybe 2 or three a bit depending on the final price.

Rick-
If you decide to go ahead with these, you might want to consider manufacturing them yourself. I remember Dan (Rambo's Ride) made the step-down springs out of regular cold rolled steel and then tempered them (into spring steel). The process wasn't too tough, as I remember right. Might want to touch base with him for some reference research. -
I'm in for a pair. Mine are not currently broken, but they likely will be at some point. Bob
