Power window switch
-
Hi Dave,
Do you need a complete switch or just the plastic bezel? As you may know, I am reproducing the bezels, both single gang and 4 gang. I have also made one operational prototype of a complete switch including all of the metal electrical components. I tested it electrically with an ohm meter but it has never been installed in a convertible. I would like to sell them in the future if there is enough interest. Rob -
Thanks Rob,
No I didn't know you were doing that. But I am relatively new to the convertible scene.
Russell Chilton came to my rescue...this tme. (Great asset to the Hudson comunity.) These switches are over 60 years old, so are very brittle and will fail even if not used! Considering that there are a probably more Packards than Hudsons out there, I think there will be a market for repro's. Maybe enough to warrant a small sideline business.
Let all the trim shops and uphoulstery shops know about your product! The prices asked for originals is very high (in my humble opinion). Check out Tucson Packard! The four gang switch asking price is darned near the price i paid for my first Hudson !! A nice one i might add..LOL -
Dave,
I do hope to advertise the parts I am making but right now I'm just concentrating on getting my production techniques down so that when someone orders a part I can fill there order in a reasonable amount of time. Right now I am concentrating on casting steering wheels for the pacemakers. Once I get the steering wheel techniques figured out I also intend to do Hornet steering wheels. I also make window crank knobs, signal lever knobs, gear shift knobs, antenna knob and bezel, and arm rests, all for stepdowns. I hope in the not too distant future I will be ready to start advertising in earnest. Then I will advertise in the WTN and put my info in the list of suppliers and also have Jon Battle list me on his list of suppliers. Did Russell mention that he bought a set of my convertible switch bezels and is very happy with them? I bet you are just loving your new convertible. Happy Hudsoning :) Rob -
Rob,
I have heard some great things about your new plastics. That is probably the biggest problem with the old switches. Then comes the electrical part!. I'm looking forward to seeing your finished product.
Let me know when you will be recasting the 48-49 deluxe steering wheels. Then the horn button! I have a spare steering wheel that has shed all it's plastic..LOL.

Need a 12volt master switch for power windows on my 56 Hudson, as the plastic bakelite on the back crumbles.
