v8 swap with original trans
-
hello all,
interested in putting a v8 in 48 hudson. has anyone done this using the original 3spd trans? which motor did you use? any info appreciated! -
Honestly - Of all the discussions that have gone-on over the years, I don't recall having ever heard of anyone keeping the Hudson trans, putting-in a non-Hudson engine.
If you are set on putting-in a V8, I suggest you select a transmission that that will work easily with and mount seamlessly to the engine (i.e., something you won't need alteration of the engine, transmission, or some special mounting plates...) - be it automatic or a manual transmission. A bit more work (trans mounts & linkage, driveshaft, possibly rearend mods, etc..), but there will be work & mods - either way.
If you really want to keep the rest of the drivetrain - Consider using Hudson power. There is a lot you can do to a Hudson engine that will make it perform as good or better than it did new...
Just my $.02, for what it's worth... -
thanks all . think maybe i'll build up the hudson motor alittle. sounds easier!
-
Sounds like a plan! If you need or want advise, guidance, this Forum is a great place to go.
AND - we love seeing pictures of work-in-progress...
Good luck, and I hope you'll keep us updated - -
Why not put a hydro in with your slightly modified hudson motor. Change sterring tube, get hydro mount setup, and 51 or newer floor pan and go.
