For the past two days when I tried to sign in to the forum this page came up:

    404 Not Found
    ______________
    nginx/0.7.67

I tried all the sign ins I could find and the same page comes up.

I eventually was going to try reregistering today. But when I clicked on "Apply for Membership" or "Join Now! Register" I then scrolled down and on the bottom left I saw another sign in by "I am already a member". I clicked on this sign in and I was able to sign in to the forum. I thought the problem was solved but after turning off computor and when I returned to the computor again later on the same problem showed up.

So if anyone else is having this problem, try doing what I did to sign in. Hopefully the glitch will be fixed soon

    Lee O'Dell.

Hi Lee. It's not a glitch I'm seeing at all, but then it's probably down to me using a different browser to you. Just for the hell of it, and because it's a good thing to do from time to time, try clearing the cache of your browser.

i have not been able to sign in for 3 days and it gives me the same error. i finally did what Lee did and joined again and it let me enter in my password there. i don't know about any browser or cache, but i have never had this problem before or on any of the other boards. not tryin' to complain, but i am glad Lee at least figured a way in. stacy k

It could be that this was a problem once, and that when you're both visiting the site, you're looking at a cached version of page on your computer (i.e. the version of the page at a time when this problem existed). Can you at the very least do a hard refresh of the page next time, and see if that fixes things?

Instructions for conducting a hard refresh for all the browser types can be read at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Bypass_your_cache

And as I said earlier, it is a very good idea to clear the cache of your browser. If nothing else this action conducted regularly will help make your browser more efficient. The link given above also provides instructions for clearing the cache - for all browsers.

I had the same problem yesterday. Thought I was "blackballed"!
    Worked fine today.
    Scott --There IS a problem.
We don't have a problem with three computers all on the same day , and than it all goes away at the sane time.

I've had this problem for several days - I've been able to log in on my account by going to Classiccar.com, then sign in, then to the forum via News & Community. Have had this 404 not found using both IE and Firefox 12.

Just to humour me, could you try what I suggested first? I'm on and off the forum all day, and I haven't been able to replicate the issue.

And if this doesn't work, could someone please email me:

    1. A screenshot
    2. The URL of the page you're at where the screenshot is taken from

My email address is REMOVETHISBITsf@classiccar.com - I think you'll see what characters to delete for my real email address.

Instructions for conducting a hard refresh for all the browser types can be read at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Bypass_your_cache - might be for your computer SF; when I click on that link I get a few intro lines and that's it. This is what I get:

"This page was last modified on 13 June 2012 at 12:47.

That's it. I'll just keep coming thru the back door of the forum (as outlined in my post above.

Well, that page was working when I linked it. Wikipedia will have to attend to the outage.

Here's another page with instructions on a hard refresh - http://www.richiroutreach.com/blog/web-troubleshooting-101-hard-refresh-and-cache-clearing

That there are only 3 people with the issue - so far - makes me wonder, but, as ever, I need to be able to see the problem, or receive evidence of it in order to investigate.

I've just been told by developers that there was an intermittent problem for a small set of members, and this has now been fixed. Could those of you reporting this problem let me know if this is the case, that it has indeed been fixed.

    No worries @hoggyrubber

I'm still not entirely sure what the problem was, and why it only affected a few. Still, it's gone, and that's good.
