54 - if you owe him a beer, it's guaranteed you'll have ZERO trouble "finding" him!!!! LOL

Curious!!!! Only post I see on here is oldhudsons. And I don't see a way to get to earlier posts on this discussion.

I'm using Firefox 12 - and a different computer. Mine's in the shop for problems and an upgrade to a 250 gig hard drive to replace the overflowing 80 gig hard drive.

@hudsontech Could be because this discussion is now onto its second page. Can you see the < 1 2 > just above the box where you type posts? That's the page controls for the discussion. Click the 1, and you'll see the previous posts.

That's cool Alex, it is small, and pagination doesn't happen on many discussions. :)

And I think the computer gets us directly to what level of dicussion we were when we left. That's what I noticed every time I come back. I don't have to verify what i read before. Michel.

Just 'ordered' my T-Shirt... We'll see how it actually looks when I get it (photos are not high definition, so we'll have to see. Not sure if I will wear it for more than our meeting -

Isn't that Zach' Railton, the one I found in Ardmore, OK?

Ken - no, that was a '35 sedan which Zach sold after restoring it & is now in England.
This is a '37 "sportsman's coupe' that I'd bought from Pschirer - photos taken after got back home to Calif., car still on my trailer.

oldhudsons - wasn't very nice of you to leave behind the nice plant Aunt Hester got for you at the Nashville National. She was devestated when she learned you'd left it behind. hehehehe

plant, plant??? Aunt Hester's "plant" was a WEED she plucked out of the front of that hell-hole of a motel (we found out that the motel was scheduled for demolition along with the weeds).
You remember that place? The restaurant ran out of food, more than once, we felt sorry for the poor one & only bar tenderess & bussed her tables for her, place ran out of towels, A/C didn't work in some of the rooms, etc., etc.
I've always wondered who chose that place for a National!
I've never stayed at a Wyndham but have high hopes ~

Yeah, but the Nashville rate was only $49 a night!!!!! And I'll have you know Hester bought that plant from a florist and paid pretty good money. Around $10 as I recall.
And the AC wasn't out in "some" of the rooms - I think it went out in most. Along with the ice machines. That was truly a low budget national.

But, hey, Hudson people are tough - they can survive most anything, they can take it and come back for more. :)) It's the getting together that's the important part.

She paid $10 for the pot, pulled the weed out of the yard on the way to the meeting, LOL!
(hope they have Bass Ale at the bar, then if hot & humid, I can "suffer" in semi-comfort)

Pete, if I treat you to a beer in the bar, will you regale us all with tales of the Olden Days (pre-1970) at the H-E-T??? You must have a million of 'em....

Ha Ha, OK, I'll start with my 1st, in '63 I believe, at a dinky motel in Hamilton, Ohio where the town giving the Club a trophy to be awarded as we saw fit led to the creation of the THE Club by Carl Horton! That was the 1st time I met future Pres. Carl Webbah, as he pronounces it.
I don't have beer for breakfast so will collect later in the day, but as the saying goes, "it's Beer O'Clock somewhere", LOL!

"Wynd-ham".......Gives me visions of a flatulent porcine....... Oh, not to worry, it should be fine. If not, the "beer googles" we put on at "beer O'clock" will make it more bearable.....

Wo, 1963, that was nearly fifty years ago! You're the keeper of our oral traditions, Pete! In '63 I was slogging my way through high school, still dreaming of someday buying my first car (it would turn out to be a '39 DeSoto, not a Hudson; I would gladly have bought a Hudson if there were any for sale in Muncie, LOL!)

Ahh, the "Terraplane Hudson Essex Greater Super Six Club", wasn't it? At LAST, a club that awarded TROPHIES! (And who remembers it now...?)

Ken, you behave yourself at Gettysburg now....hear???

you know Jon it was really a sad story as I was told Carl went broke trying to get his club going.
I've always thought it is one of our strengths that we don't have judging as can be very divisive, as proven in '63, cars become ego trips, "trailer queens", etc.
In the '60s & 70s it was sort of a "badge of honor" to drive to a National & I would spend a month or so prepping my car for the trek from Calif. to the National, always held FAR to the east then. Now some of the cars too valuable & fragile to be driven those distances but some still do it like Walt M. & my old Escondido, Cal. friend has his '50 C6 sd. all ready for the "long haul". Takes a lotta time, perservance, $$$ to drive a Hudson 5000 + miles across the country & back so it's really great we have members still that dedicated.

My first National, and I think this was the first meeting of 'online' internet members (be it the Forum, Facebook or whatever).
Very nice to meet everyone - and there were some good discussions & recommendations that came of it, although it probably could have lasted quite a while longer.

Approximately 27 members of the Hudson Classiccar Forum gathered for a breakfast get-together at the Gettysburg National and got a chance to "put a face with the avatar" so to speak. We learned a lot about one another and discussed the current status of the Forum. This was a continuation of many "chat breakfasts" that have occurred since the first one at the Nashville National in 1999. (The chatroom was our earliest form of meeting online but had fallen into disuse and was discontinued recently by Classiccar.)

The only bad thing about the meeting was that I (who called the meeting) forgot to take a group photo so others would have the opportunity to connect the face with the name. Thanks to all who attended.

Yup - Enjoyed the meeting. IMO, it probably could have lasted quite a bit longer - or multiple meetings (?)...

With the advent of the internet, Forum and 'social media' (i.e., Facebook) and/or whatever replaces it, think that this type of meeting should become a permanent part of the National.

** Maybe even a 'Tech' session on how to use the Forum, Facebook, etc..? May seem almost natural to some of us, however could be of benefit to others who are not so computer savvy.

In addition, I think a National Group/Committee should be formed/appointed - to address, act-upon, use, consolidate and control these type of venues.

And, by 'control' I mean determine the internet 'location' for these venues, the name of the venue (whether it be Forum, chatroom, facebook page, twitter account, etc..), and to stabilize and maintain its presence.

(note: This is a repeat of an earlier post, copied and pasted here)

Thanks John. Was glad to meet you and the guys on friday. Too bad I had to quit at 8:45 to go on the tour. Don't want to name anyone cause I am sure I would forget some but, each of you must know that I was very glad to meet you in person. And just to finish, on Saturday, just before all flea marketers took off, I went for a last spin, and noticed a pair of 54 bezels. The owner arrived in a dark Hudson. Had a chat with him. gave me a good price and offered me his card and help whenever I would need it. I looked at the card, and his name seemed familiar. I asked him: Are you on the forum? And he said: Yes, I'm @Hudzilla! Told him I was @54Superwasp and we laughed. He could not be at the meeting but I was glad I did met him anyway. I'm still on high from last week! Michel

I really enjoyed meeting my fellow forum members - I was glad to see the enthusiasm generated by Michel. He was like a kid in a candy store!! LOL And, Michel, I didn't move to get away from your flying hands (having had a French grandmother I understand the "hands talking" bit - LOL) but only to chat with others. Was a lot of fun getting together.

Yep! I'm a 59 year old kid now! Alex, you're not the first talking about my ''flying hands''. A few beers were blown away while I was talking. (And my brother Paul is worst than me on that!) And Gene, the restauration should begin in one year, right after the fixin of the garage first and, hopefuly, the sale of my present house. Will keep in touch! Michel
