Brake drum shield for 1952 Hornet
-
While adjusting the brakes on my 52 Hornet I noticed the shield aroung the outside diameter of the left rear brake drum was loose. After removeing the rear wheel the shield is loose enough I can slide it off the brake drum. Since it helps disipate heat from the drum I would like to fix it. I believe it was originally a press fit. Has anyone else had this problem and how was the fix accomplished?

i wonder if it could just be "staked" on in a couple of places with a prick punch?

The shield is also a vibration dampener ,some makes used a coil spring for this . It is not a disaster if it is missing - lots of them are. Perhaps a slight "Tack" in a couple spots with a stick welder ? Just dont linger and make a hot spot.
