Need help identifying project car
-
I bought this car a long time ago thinking I could work on this with my Dad. 15 years later it is still sitting unrestored. I need to sell but I really don’t know much about the car. Can anyone help me identify exactly what year and model this is? Also, what is a good asking price for a project like this? I believe all of the original parts are in the car including all original engine.
From my research I believe this is a 1940 Ford 2dr Sedan.

40 ford -- how solid is it? 6 or 8 cylinder?

This might help with your research. It's a repository of old Ford brochures. See it at (link will open in a new window):

Elsewhere on the site is any number of brochures for other marques and models. -
It has to be a 1940 Ford Standard Tudor sedan.
1940 was the first year the wipers were below the windshield.
All 1940 Ford cars are flathead V8s
The Standard model had the new sealed beam headlights but as was Ford practice for several years, it used a grille similar to the previous year's DeLuxe model
1939 Fords have double horizontal trim on the hood that is half round. '40s have single trim that is ribbed.
The two door sedans are called "Tudor" in Ford literature.
1941 Fords were totally restyled.
Enjoy the Fortie Tudor restoration project. Hope you still have your dad around to participate. -
you are right gold member this is a 1940 ford V-8 model 01A standard tudor sedan. On the 1939 models the headlights were flush to the front fenders.

As far as what you should ask for your Ford, we would need to know a bit more about it's condition than you've stated so far. Tell us about rust through, floor, door bottoms, trunk floor? Does the engine rotate by hand, or is it stuck (frozen up)?
