1953 Hornet Hollywood or 1950 Super Eight Sedan - which is rarer?
-
Last weekend my buddy and I were up north and we saw 2 Hudsons. One was a '53 Hornet Hollywood and the other was a '50 Super Eight Sedan. I'm just wondering which one of the two is rarer?? I looked through our entire Hudson Club member directory and one saw one Super Eight Sedan.

According to a chart Sarah Young has on her Hudson Jet website there were only 197 1950 Super 8's built.
A General Technical and Information Bulletin that was published as TS 81-7 in the Nov/Dec 1981 White Triangle News a total of 27,208 Model 7C 1953 Hornets built of which, according to Sarah's web site, 590 were Hornet Hollywoods.
Sarah's excellent Hudson Jet site is at: http://hudsonjet.net/ (Model info is listed under VINs.)

That sounds like a great weekend! Did you happen to take pictures? Would love to see pictures of the '50 Super Eight!

Hudsontech, I believe you meant Super 8, not Commadore 8 ?????. I have never seen a Super 8 sedan but many Commadore 8s

1951hornethardtop - is that better. My post now reads "Super 8". Thanks for the heads up. And, further, I just checked Sarah's listing and I got the number of "Super 8's" produced wrong. So I corrected that figure also. Don't know where that 191 figure came from - must have been having a bad day. Happens when you're shuttling between web sites!!!!!!!!!! I-) Still, a very low number (1,074).
NOTE to ClassicCar - the edit feature on these posts is great. Love the way it doesn't go away even after the post has been up for a few days.

@hudsontech The edit option has helped me out many, many times!

Super 8 is a rare car. They only came in 3 body styles. Sedan, Coupe, and Brougham. I've never seen a coupe or Brougham. I missed the chance to buy a sedan for only $400. It needed total restoration but still I kick myself fro not getting it. It is possible the brougham is an extinct species. I don't think they sold because for a little more money you could've gotten a trimmed out Commodore 6 instead of a stripped down 8 cyl. Now what's more desireable to own despite rarity is probably the '53 Hollywood.
