generator question - field and armature
-
i can't for the life of me see a mark telling me which post is field and which one is arm on my generator. i have a GDZ-6001B gen and the correct voltage reg. i have yet to have this hooked up since i got the engine running.
the post more toward the drivers tire that is larger post and has radio interference quietning thing hooked to it- is it the field?
the post more toward the engine on top that is the smaller post is it the arm? i cleaned off the outside and tried to look thru the end to see where wires were going but i may have to take it off to get a better look if noone knows by my description. i started a total rewire today, decided against buying a premade harness since i already have all the wire i need and connecters
also i can't seem to find the fuse breaker in manual diagram. mine may have had it removed but can anyone tell me where it orig was located exactly on my 53 hornet. thank you, stacy -
Hi, the larger of the two posts/studs is the Arm terminal and the smaller one is the Field. DO NOT hook the radio interferrence condenser to the field, only to the Armature terminal. The main breaker is screwed on top of the dashboard to firewall brace to the right of the steering column, it's a stamped channel shaped piece. It looks just like the one on the headlight switch.

a big thank you sir! i will wire it that way. looks like the radio condenser was hooked to the larger post so- arm it is. i will also check for the main breaker where you mentioned.
i am pretty excited to get started on the wiring. i am sordering and heat shrinking every connection. also using the correct gage wire for everything, and correct color if i have it too. you know this hudson wiring diagram is one of the easiest to understand i have seen- glad for that. -
checked today and the main circut breaker is gone, no wonder i couldn't find it! i am going to look on one of my parts cars, i would like to go back with a original one if i can.
