Hydramatic front pump seals
-
I have a fairly large leak coming from the front of my hydro and I believe it's coming from the front pump (coming down front of case, not down back of torus). Can I get at the pump seals without pulling the whole thing apart? I have a Hudson Hydro manual and a Pontiac/Olds manual and it mentions the front pump late in the dis-assembly procedure, and it's not clear to me whether the pump can come out by itself. The tranny works/shifts fine as far as I can tell so I don't really want to go down the rebuilding rabbit hole - and I can buy a 'front pump seal kit' for ~$30.Six in a row makes it GO!

Posting from my phone, do not have a WTN handy. Check for Gus Sousa in vendor/ services area. He rebuilds Hydamatics.

Here's a walk thru with pics on an Olds version by a buddy of mine.

Thanks TwinH, I was looking for just that thread - I've seen it before.Six in a row makes it GO!

Alright- after some serious study of all the manuals, exploded views, and parts books I could scrounge on the internet I am fairly certain the front pump can be removed by itself provided the bottom pan is removed to allow support of the front unit and input shafts. Now to plot the attack...Six in a row makes it GO!
