Stepdown Aerial fastening - dash

I think I have found most of the components for the aerial connection that goes down the front of the windshield on my '50 Pacemaker.
I have two questions -
I have a shaped bracket that seems to fit sandwiched under the dash that the base of the inside aerial secures to. It looks as if there should be a long screw that goes through the front of this bracket to secure it to the bulkhead but there seems that there should be a spacer also. Is this correct? Does someone have a picture or diagram of how it should be assembled and to maybe identify the part I may be missing?
Secondly, I assume the wire from the roof aerial goes on top of this inside aerial. Is it just held on by a tight fit? and should this join have a protective sleeve over it (I am guessing maybe yes)?

Alistair, The base plate for your antenna is mounted to the forward dash valence by a single long screw as you have observed. The bracket joins up the two dash valences as a coverplate. If your car came with an antenna , then there will be a hole in the coverplate without a cover plug. If no antenna came with the car then that plate has a plug or there is no hole whatever. (in which case you have to drill a hole) The hard wire antenna comes down from the roof in back of the mirror bracket and has a plastic base that sits on top of the coverplate hole. This plastic base has a threaded part which goes through the hole and connects with the antenna lead coming from the radio itself. The opposite end of the hard wire antenna has a connector going to the antenna mast itself. This is a soldered connection onto the antenna base while the hardwire part has a push connector attaching it to the antenna mast. If you can get a copy of the 1951 "A" series shop manual, the complete layout is in section 6-37. Good luck.
