Restored Doorsills!

"Before & After" type of shot of a restored door sill. Not having seen a truly pristine doorsill from a Step-Down, I assume these originally had a brushed finish. So, that was my goal, with the doorsill on the top. A larger picture can be viewed here:

This was accomplished by straightening, de-denting, filing, sanding straight down the length of the sill, re-painting and touching up where necessary and completing with a couple coats of lacquer.

    Comments or suggestions always welcome!

Sounds good. How are you on door sills for a 54 they are different. No paint but textured....

There are things I just do not like doing. This is one of them.

Beautiful job. Any hints for the rest of us on how you applied the black paint?

Just a question. Does anyone know if anybody is reproducing pre-stepdown sill plates?? Mine are shot for my 47 club coupe. I had a company reproduce the shape of them for me,but not with the pattern and Hudson name.
    Thanks,
    Chuck

Yes indeed there is a company that reproduces them. They do beautiful work and accurate on details as well. Last time I checked they were about a year out on their orders . They did(do?) sell through distributors and I believe one of them was K-Gap.
