Unless you 'pop' the hood (or hear it), you'd never know there was that much engine under the hood.- The exhaust has been very well thought-out and placed, and looks good coming out just in front of the rear wheels, although I am not too sure about how it appears to displace part of the running boards - sort of interrupts the 'flow'...- See the custom radiator? Appears to have the traditional/old look, but is modern - hopefully with enough 'flow' to cool the 'beast'...Hopefully, this will get driven & is not a 'trailer queen'... From what I have read, it may be - When I checked it's status, it was in for paint touch-up...Any thoughts on that Ford 9" rear? There's no reason a built up 9" wouldn't hold up to that motor - folks have been drag racing with the ubiquitous rear end for 40 years or more and with even more hp than the viper motor puts out.46HudsonPU wrote:...Hopefully, this will get driven & is not a 'trailer queen'... I'd estimate this was an 120-150k build minimum. The crate motor and trans alone are probably 20k or more. Custom designed and built frame and squeezing it all inside there takes a lot of time.
If they had only 2000 hours into it (I would be surprised it's probably substantially more) even at a modest shop rate of 60.00 an hour (I don't know what they charge...) thats 120k in labor alone...
The hand built car Chip Foose won the Riddler award at the Detroit Auto Show had 5 years and 7000+ man hours into it! At 75.00 and hour (Chip's advertised rate on "Rides") thats a whopping 525 THOUSAND just in labor! -

A beautiful machine for sure! Wish I had the bucks for that drivetrain! Definately something you wouldn't see just anywhere. I wonder if he's going to run rear skirts? Personally I think I would run wider tires in the rear to fill up the space unless I ran skirts and it was lowered and harder to see the tires. Just a personal preference.
Now, as my father would have said "if I had that car...and he had a feather up his arse....we'd both be tickled!" lol (just a joke, in case the owner is on this board)
But, hats off to this car and its owner and builder.
