dumb question of the week where to hook up battery
-
when i got all of my hudsons they were all in pieces so i don't know where the short positive cable bolts to.the long one comes down from battery to battery stand then a short one goes off to somewhere ???? maybe motor mount. i just want to get it correct. thanks, stacy100_2544.JPG800 x 600 - 41K

also does anyone have a battery tray for sale? of know a vendor sells a aftermarket one? if so let me know. i see one listed on ebay but i am not sure if it fits my year/model. thanks
-
That should reach the top stud on the motor mount. Dont forget that is the positive side .

Post a link or photo of the one on ebay I can tell you if it fits your car

thanks, that's kind of what i thought but i am glad to know for sure. i will keep it in mind about the pos ground, i had the engine wired up on a stand. the ebay tray is item # 260916216729 sorry, i don't know how to do a link or picture from there. i'm not a big computer guy.

Regarding the ground straps, there should be one from the battery to the engine (or to the body), and then one between the body and the engine. That way everybody gets hooked up.
Not hard to post a direct link (to Ebay for example). At the very top of your screen is a long white window with gobbledy-gook in it, which starts with www or http. Slide your cursor over that with your mouse button (the left one) held down. The whole line of type turns blue.
Then right-clock your mouse and a tiny window opens up. Choose "COPY" with a left click. This "stores" that blue line of type into your computer.
Now, go back to where you were posting your message and place your cursor in the box. Right-click again. A little box opens. Left-click "PASTE".
And there you have it. This procedure is called "copy / paste" and is a basic computer skill that will serve you well. Just as handy as knowing how to connect a battery strap! -
http://www.ebay.com/itm/260916216729?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 is this how to do it?
-
i see, it did work. i knew about copying and pasteing text i just didn't know it would automaticly do a click on it link when you did that. like i said i'm not big on computers, funny thing to say on a internet site. thank you for the info.

As far as a stepdown Hudson these photos show what makes up the battery holder assembly. Not real sure what the one on ebay is , may be the 46-47 support plate.

thanks for the pictures. i have the stand on the right attached to the frame. i might just make a box like the stock one on the left picure. i am a ok welder and have tig, mig, gas and arc setups so as long as i have an idea what i'm trying to duplicate i'm good. would prefer a original one but, HA HA, who wouldn't. looking at the stand i wasn't exactly sure how it attached but i have a much better idea now. as they say, muchos grasias.
-
Sorry I didnt have a better photo . That is some items sold on ebay awhile back

The only dumb question, is the one you DON"T ask!
-
Also make sure when you hook the cables up that you leave the metal underneath unpainted. Pretty new paint will weaken the connection.
At least that was my experience. -
I have an extra try if ya need one. It's solid, been stripped and primed.
PM your address and I'll send it to ya, n/c.
