34 sedan options
-
Greetings all. I'm new to this site, so hopefully one of you guys can help me out. I recently rescued a 34 Hudson 8 4dr sedan from an old chicken coop, and so far everything seems to be ok with it. Someone started restoring it probably 30 odd yrs ago and never finished it. The car was totally apart when I got it, but most everything is with it in boxes, buckets, jars, etc, except the motor. To date, I've upgraded the front with a Mustang II, rear with a chevy 12 bolt 3:31 posi with a four link, and a 427 BB truck motor & Th350. I want to make this thing a classic looking driver with modern drivability. Does anyone know anything about a folding bar in the rear seat floor area? I'm guessing it is a foot rest of some sort but don't know where or how this thing attaches. I'll may be looking for some misc. parts soon if I can't find the rest of them. Thanks in advance for any help. Rayside3.JPG800 x 533 - 62K

Hi Ray,
Welcome to the club. Awesome project!! I love the upgrades and choices you've made so far! I'm making similar ones with my '49. I hope you're planning on putting yours on the ground....something like the picture below
Keep all of us up to date with your project with lots of pictures. Great people on here and very willing to help out in any way they can.
Good luck!!

Lee & Mike, thanks for the kind words, it's nice when someone acknowledges your work. Lee, I love the stance but unfortunately, Eastern CT roads won't allow it quite that low. It will be sitting lower when all is said and done though, with drop spindles, tires, wheels.
Mike, I do have some parts I will be unloading soon, mostly suspension parts (springs, axleflex front susp., steering box, etc). I want to keep as many of the original accessories as possible as they just add to the cool factor. With any luck , we'll be cruising this summer!100_1887.JPG800 x 533 - 36K -
hi Ray,
make sure you keep all the parts and when you are ready for sale of them post it on the other side of the forum and they will be very appreciative, and will help you find anything you are looking for like window rubbers, door rubber bumpers and things like that
A new site that has just opened might be your ticket
like this place
http://fulllinereproduction.com/
Or Victor for window felts, sorry forgot his last name but he or some else will chime in
Read both sides of the forum lots of useful info

there is a website just for Hudson 8s at yahoo.com, for restorers, so if you have any of the original equip., such as the engine, trans., etc., it would be much appreciated if you would post them there.

If you need any pictures we have an original 34 and I would be willing to take pics of to help. I am just starting a 34 restoration so anything you don't use i would have interest in and we are local to you in eastern MA. Mark

Thanks Mark, that would be fantastic. The interior of mine is gutted and I have a pile of trim parts that attach somewhere inside. If only I had been there 30 +/- yrs ago, I'd know how things go together!! Any interior pics you have would be much appreciated!! You can send them to my regular email at tinman@firehousemail.com.
The extra parts I have are mostly suspension as stated previously, but I do also have a couple of xtra vent window frames which are kinda ratty and will need refinishing. I can send pics your way if you like. Thanks again, Ray -
Ray I will try to get over there and take some interior shots of my dads car this weekend. I am looking to scrounge anything 34 that i can especially front axle parts so anything you may want to part with let me know or shoot me an emai/pic at RA4jumb@msn.com. If there is anything in particular that you would like a picture of please let me know and I will take the pic for you, this car is an untouched original paint/interior car so it makes good reference for sure. Thanks soo much for the photos Mark, they have helped answer a good number of questions for me already! Thankfully, the chicken coop where I found this car has revealed a few more missing pieces of the puzzle. Not sure what else is there though. I'll be in contact shortly and maybe we can discuss some possible part swapping as I am still missing some important pieces.
Next question... does anyone here know of a manufacturer who makes a radiator for a '34 or know of a compatible replacement? Gibson and Walker apparently have never heard of Hudson!? Any help would be much appreciated!! Ray -
keep an eye on e-bay as they do turn up, even if you find a shot 1
you can use the top and bottom tanks and have a new core fitted, just make sure you install some baffles so the tanks wont collapse under pressure, mine works too good and still trying to get her up to the right running temp, even ask on the other side, you will be surprised who will help out or join http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/EssexSuper6/ as well
