Preservation effort under way for giant Studebaker sign
http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2012/01/05/preservation-effort-under-way-for-giant-studebaker-sign/ :woohoo:  -
The history of South Bend is so intertwined with Studebaker Corporation that modern city fathers have relentingly had to recognize its importance, though for several decades the "hurt" of Studebaker's closing left the city near destitute, were it not for Notre Dame. The persistence of the Studebaker Driver's Club and support of the Studebaker Museum there eventually showed the city that tourism was enhanced and their name as a manufacturing city would be maintained. I am a member of the SDC and admire the club greatly. If you have not ever visited the Museum and perhaps taken the wife to lunch at the Studebaker family mansion nearby, you are missing two TREMENDOUS treats. The SDC is a model car club keeping everyone from restorers to customizers in the loop and with reproduction parts and technical help that at the very least rivals ANY car club you wish to name.
So glad to see the trees are going to be maintained. Thanks Vic.
