47 Stars - Trivia

    Today is the 100th Anniversary of New Mexico Statehood. New Mexico was the 47th State, but by law no stars could be added to the flag (officially) until the 4th of July, 1912. By that time, Arizona had acheived Statehood. So there are 46 star flags and 48 star flags, but no (official) 47 star flags. You may now resume your regularly scheduled activites...:lol:

    Ok, here's another piece of state hood trivia: Maine became a state in 1820 when it split from Massachusetts.

    Since 1820 the people of Massachusetts have been trying to buy the state back - one house lot at a time. :woohoo:
