Can anyone tell me what this vin# 264094 belongs to, it is a 1953. I think it belongs to a Hornet but the guy only got those 6 digits. He will go back tomorrow and see if there is a 7C in front of that number. At least he did finally find the vin# plate so we are making progress. I bought the car on the condition that it is a Hornet as he stated. Richie.

It is indeed a 1953 - early production at that (Nov. 1952 build) Ser. No. range was 202917-208037.

Unfortunately there is no way to determine what model it would be - that has to come from the ID tag. Even the limited breakdown that's available in my General Info Handbook wouldn't be much help. There were 21,143 Jets, 17,792 Wasp models and 27,208 Hornets built in 1953.

Bodies were given serial numbers as they came down the line regardless of model - there might be several (or one) Wasp models followed by several Hornets (or one) followed by Wasps and so one.

Thanks Alex, I didn't know if there was any way to I.D. what model was assigned that particular vin. number. I'm pretty sure it is a 7C and I should know tomorrow for sure. Again thanks Alex. Richie.
