I guess this Forum works well. I saw this 40, I went to the auction, and decided to buy it. Thanks Jon for the tip.
My grandfather purchased a 1940 Hudson new, and that is what started the Souers family on the Hudson kick. Just figured we ought to have a 40 back in the garage after 70 years.

Yeah, Ed, tell us about the car. Is it really in as good condition as it looked? Did you have to get involved in heavy bidding, or did it go at a very reasonable price?

It turned out to be a very nice car. It was reported to be all original, but it did indeed have a repaint many years ago, repainted the original black paint. The interior is all original, and is in very nice condition. The wood grain on the dash and windows is in beautiful condition. Underneath the car is very clean. The 36,000 miles on the odometer appears to be correct. The clutch is a little touchy and there are a lot of little things to clean up, but all in all, a pretty nice car. Very straight and solid. Appears to never have been any rust. It is a no heater car, yet it came out of Canada in 1997. It must have lived most of its life in warmer weather. There were lots of people at the auction interested in the car, many for its street rod potential. It ended up being a $6,000 car which is 6 times what is cost new. Who says Hudsons don't appreciate? I will post some pictures when I get it out in the next few days.
