hood underside color
-
Would like to know what color the underside of a hood would be in '54, same as exterior? Black?
-
I had 3 different hoods, still have 2 all were body color with heat shield/padding.
Bob Hickson -
Where would you get close to correct heat padding for under hood for a '54 ???
Thanks, Paul -
I have no idea, Maybe some one else, like Hudzilla might know.

Here's a picture of the hood insulation on my 54

I ordered it through Clark Industries Inc. 1-800-BY-REPOPS. It's item #INS101, 48" X 65", 1/2" thick, Universal Fit. I had to trim it a bit to fit. Can't find the receipt but I think it was under $100.00
They informed me that you need to use 3MHigh-Strength Spray Adhesive 90 other adhesives won't stick to the paint or insulation. I ordered it online from 3M. $20.32 + shipping
Hope this helps

Thanks John for the tip and photo. I think I ran into you in Detroit at the 100 year National. Did you have the green '54 with the sun visor?? I will be bringing my "54 out to play at Gettysburg Pa. It will have taken almost six years to complete. Hope to see ya there.
Paul in MN -
Yep, that was me Paul.

I plan on driving my 54 from Kansas to Gettysburg next year.
Sounds like you are getting down to the last little bit of it. Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be glad to help.

That is one beautiful "54 john, and the visor really adds to it. Will see you in Gettysburg. Thanks for your offer of help !! I will keep you in mind. One question. Where did you get the defrost hose under the dash?? It's about 2 1/2" TO 3" IN die. Mine just fell apart with age.
Paul -
Paul,
I didn't need to replace mine.
I did a search on this forum and found these two answers.
1). Try NAPA
2). Defroster Hose Under Dash. VW ducting, the same size 2 inch
John -
Thanks John that's a start. I am sure we will be in touch. Take care of yourself!!
Regards paul
