HUDSON 6/8 Cylinder FIBER TIMING GEARS
-
These are 20 degree gears that fit 41-52 Hudson eight
cylinder and 41 - 47 six cylinder engines.
NOS gears at $ 15.00 each . I have three.
Cheap insurance , carry one in the trunk.
send a PM
thanks Roy -
Will they fit a 1934 Hudson Eight by any chance ?
-
Yes if you use a later ( 41 up )
crank gear.Must be a 20 degree gear
Thanks Roy -
Several modifications need to be done if you use these later gears in your 1934.

The modifications did not show up on my screen. Can you give them again, please?
Thanks in advance.
Lee O'DEll -
The modifications are.
1) The two bolts that are behind the timing gear ( part of the front engine plate) need to be removed and replaced with counter sunk screws, if the bolts are left there they will foul on the back of the gear causing damage to the back of the new gear.
2) make sure the thicker timing gear will clear the timing case cover as the later gears(1") are thicker than the early gears (7/8"), you may have to replace the cover with the later model cover or use an extra gasket.
3) Most important, make sure you replace the crank gear with the correct 20 deg gear, the number on the crank gear should be 166310, the early gear being numbered 40147.
Hope this helps.
The number for an aluminium gear should be 165958 (20deg) -
