Ignition coil for a 1946 super six?
-
Does someone know if the ignition coil for a 1946 super six is interchangeable with a later model?
None of the local auto parts stores list the coil for this car and one shop offered to 'match it' if I bring the old coil. Can they 'match it' by looking at it? I don't think any of the numbers in the old coil are legible.
Thank you. -
Or does someone know the autolite part number for the coil?
-
Someone will step in here with a part number. I'm pretty sure they're still available in a "universal" fit.
If you're trying for something authentically original you might try Dave Kostansek, I've gotten an original coil (with electrolock connection) for me '37 from him. He's in the roster and advertises in the WTN. -
Jon,
My Echlin book lists a IC9 coil for 27 thru 47 Hudson and recommends the ICB10 mounting bracket. The coil for the 48 thru 55 Hudson is IC7 and recommends the ICB 15 bracket. Hope this helps.
