BEARINGS?
-
Thought I might give this a try. Pulled out the 212cu out of the 41 C6S and checked the main bearings. The rear looks bad, center ok and front good. I would like to replace them all. This is what brings me here. I have the front #162538 and rear #162540 mains, anyone out there that may have the center main? Part #162539 Or any ideas? She's almost worthy! Thanks.

Merely replacing the main bearings isn't usually successful. Have you had the crank journals inspected to see if they need cleaning up ... out of round, tapered, etc.? That should be done, then once you know what the new journal sizes are going to be you can have your original bearings rebabbited. Line boring of the newly babbited bearings isn't quite as critical with the sixes as it is for the eights, but still the best procedure. Plus it may be hard to find anyone who can machine the rebabbited ones to correct size without their being installed in the block.

Thanks for the advice. This weekend I will mic the journals and find out where I'm at with it.
