Wiring for a Hudson Hornet
-
Time for new wiring. Rhode Island Wiring shows wiring for most stepdowns other than 53 (!) for some reason. Anyone use their product for a 53? Any other suggestions. I have used Rhode Island for my 34 Dodge, and it was awesome.
-
Should be identical to what they have listed for '51 & '52.
-
They may have mistakenly omitted the '53s somehow because of the Jet. I helped finish up the installation of a Rhode Island harness in "HornetSpecial"s '54 sedan. There were a few glitches that gave us fits, such as switching the length & connections for the starter solenoid vs. coil power (-), but they do make a beautiful original-looking harness.Workin Stiff

I have used their harnesses many times. Never any problems. There are some parts you can fab for yourself. I would buy the main dash harness and make all other wiring myself.
-
Or you can try Y&Z wiring.

Got mine from Naragansett Reproductions. Evrything fit perfectly, very clear instructions. Good communication from them. Good response to dummies like me who is easily confused. They are a family run business and have a website.
Just to give some more choices,

Rhode Island Wiring makes exact replacements and it comes with easy to follow directions.

51 will be slightly different as the switches were moved in 52RL Chilton wrote:Should be identical to what they have listed for '51 & '52.
having worked with both - unless they have changed, Y&Z is inferior to the rhode island product for two reasons: 1st they do not follow the hudson colors and second they are not clearly marked. both have quality wire, looms and terminations.
