Help! I need the carbon seal washer that goes inside the water pump on my Hornet. I have the spring assembly and a new shaft and bearing, but no carbon washer. I have tried Allbrights but they only have complete water pumps. Can anyone point me in the direction for a new washer please.

    Re: waterpump rebuilt kits
The Hudson waterpump shaft and double bearing assembly is a standard item used in many different automotive and non-automotive waterpump applications over the years, is available from most bearing stores and is not expensive. From memory its a 5/8" shaft x 30mm or 32mm OD bearing, the shaft will be over long and each end will need to be trimmed.

For the seal use a 5/8" pool pump seal and some ingenuity and you will have it done.

I have used industrial / pool pump seals with the correct shaft diameter to rebuild a variety of waterpumps for Kip Motor. I recall the original Hudson carbon seal washer was a round cruciform, had 4 tabs that fit in a spring loaded retainer.
Did you machine/ lap the part of the pump casting where the seal rides on? If it is rough, scored or pitted, it will eat up the carbon seal quickly, as well as not seal well. The tell tale sign of the seal being worn down is black carbon dust coming out the weep hole at the bottom front part of the pump casting, it gets on the top of the timing cover, and makes a mess.
