Need 51 Hnt Pass side frt window vent gear
-
Looking for a good passenger side front window vent wing gear (or mechanism) for a 51 Hornet. Thanks, Niels

I believe Gene and Myrna Eshelman are making repro's of this gear. Look on my Hudson Repro Parts webpage at http://www.detailedconcepts.net/Repro_Table.pdf and scroll down to the DOORS, TRUNK LIDS & LATCHES page. There's a photo of the gears in the photo section and the Eshelmans' contact information is listed at the bottom of the webpage as well.

Yes! I purchased a set of these from Eshelman.. great price, and very good quality. Pretty simple to replace.. here are some notes I made to myself after taking the door panel off the first time (Contact for the Eshelmans is shown below)
REMOVING DOOR PANEL –
See pics Camera/Hudson
The door panel is in two major pieces..
First remove the arm rest and all handles (window winder has a pin which must be driven through)
Next carefully pop up the center section (with fabric)… there are about 5-6 connectors top and bottom
Note the remaining piece has the vertical trim glued to the center, AND there is a screw underneath each glued trim that has to be removed.
The big U-shaped piece has panel clips along each outer vertical piece, along both edges.. lift up the outer edge first, then you can get at the inner edge on each side.
The lower piece along the bottom of the door also has clips along the top (just below the stainless trim, which does NOT need to be removed).. the bottom edge of the lower piece sits in a metal channel attached to the door. Once all the other clips are released, you can just lift the entire U-shaped panel upwards to free.
Finally, remove window surround trim and metal trim piece just underneath..
Replacing the vent gear is pretty straightforward… once all panels are off, you can reach the mechanism from the lower door opening.
Remove the single screw that joins the gear mechanism to the actual window. Then remove the two large screws that hold the mechanism in place.. lower through door opening, and repair.
