headlight reflector interchange information wanted
-
Does anyone know if other year bi-ray headlight reflectors will interchange with 1936 Terraplane ones?
-
My book shows that Bi Ray was used on the 36 Chrysler Airstream and Airflow as well as the 38 and 39 DeSoto. It also shows that Hudson used it on the 36-8 cars as well as the 1939 models excepting the 112 model. The ones that look the closest to the Hudson model you have would be the 1936 Chrysler Airstream and the late thirties Desotos. Dosen't look like anyone else used them.

Are you sure about the '39 112? I was under the impression that particular 'model classification' were the only ones of that particular year that they would fit... (well, along with the Model 90 & 98 - essentially those models that did not have the headlights on the fenders, but were mounted/hung from the main grille).Hudzilla wrote:My book shows that Bi Ray was used on the 36 Chrysler Airstream and Airflow as well as the 38 and 39 DeSoto. I have a good set from a 1939 model 112 and several 1937 and set of 36's that need resilvered. I was hoping to be able to use the ones from the 39. I guess i will have to wait until I take apart the 1936 pair I have and compare them.

Dave, I was only reading the information out of a Motor's book I had. I have no actual interchange knowledge on this one. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Dave,
I cant help with the re-silvering but brighter 6 & 12V original Bulbs are available from LB Car Co www.lbcarco.com ; I am buying 12V Halogen original Bulbs for my '37 headlights.
Additionally, I been considering buying new round 'Halogen Reflector Conversion Kits' available inexpensively Online, to replace the old reflectors then use original 'style' Bulbs behind the original glass Lens.... -
Sounds good, let me know how it works out
