Looked at the 48 Commodore coupe on Ebay
-
I looked over the 48 Commodore on ebay and from the pics and modest description it was a disappointment. There was major outer frame rust both sides. Major metal work to the quarters and bottom of the doors. Metal rust out on the outer frame under the doors. Upholstrey is a disaster as is the headliner. Paint is terrible. I would call this a #4 car. Floors were welded in with new metal but the trans cover is shot. Motor is an unknown
On the positive side everything is there to rebuild the car and it has overdrive.
I would not of go over $2000 for this car. will need major frame work. Not as easy as the pictures show. Since the bid is at $3500 the winner will be unhappy
They set the reserve at 5K, but they are going to sell it to the highest bidder if it doesn't hit the reserve. They are green when it comes to an accurate description of this car (nothing on purpose though)

Looks like they took the pics at midnite.

....in a dark alley, with a cheap camera. Lol...slim

NO THANKS!

It's been my experience over the years that pictures are taken dark and published dark for a purpose.................. to hide the real story!

From the listing: "Had a question concerning floor pans, just checked them , they are in excellent condition"(.) You would think if you were buying a car (and owned the car) that you would already know the condition.

Well, that's too bad, Russ. Of course if the highest bid doesn't meet reserve then the bidder isn't under obligation to accept the seller's "Second Chance Offer". Here's to hoping he learns about the car before he does.
I sold the perfect '48 coupe foundation for that one to Mark Buttles up in Minocqua last spring. Had some dents from the front-end loader, but the bottoms of the doors had the only rust-thru. Frame is solid, but the motor is froze bad. Hate to say it but that eBay coupe might only be the perfect parts car for something like this.P1010028.JPG800 x 599 - 70KP1010013.JPG800 x 599 - 46KWorkin Stiff -
