Diff pinion bearing '40-47'
-
Anyone have a cross-reference number for '40-'47 front pinion bearing (cone and cup), Timken 02876 and 02820? NAPA can't find a cross for this bearing.
-
Park, I'll send you email with information. They have bearing for 19.00 and cup for 8.00. Talk with Keith.

Thanks Dave. Struck out on local sources ... did a bit more searching and found one on E-Bay for $17 plus mailing. In the process came across a source in Oregon who only wanted a paltry $95 for one. Egad !!

Just be thankful you're not looking for an Essex carburetor on ebay. :woohoo:

The 02876 and 02820 part numbers are still good. National makes them.
A good app for them is Ford 1949 - 1954 exc Station Wagons and Sedan Deliverys. -
Yes, but knowing it's a good number doesn't put 'em on the shelf. LOL. This bearing apparently hasn't been used in anything for some time, so isn't real easy to find (one local source said the last one they sold was in 1980).
Interesting note ... I tried to find it via the Ford application and it came back as 02872. Advance Auto had that one on the shelf. Apparently same bearing except the bore is smaller by about 1/4". So not sure about that application's being correct. -
Oh No! Louis Backus Swaps Manual was wrong. I see how they made their mistake. The 02872 and the 02876 bearings both use the 02820 cup.
