I'm trying to work up a car show sign for our 30 Essex touring sedan and although the radiator emblem says "super six" is that actually the model or is it the challenger? I've been calling it a super six but I've seen it listed as both in various publications. Any one really know? Thanks.

Either - or! They were advertised as both. The Essex was first called the Super six in 1927, and went through to 1932. Of course the super Six moniker was first given to the Hudson of 1916, and variously used from 1947 thru to 1950's models. An irony is that in 1927 they advertised the "New Super-Six, freed to the limit! We can do no better" then in 1928 they came out with the "New improved super six", and in 1929 with again the "New Super Six Challenger, with 64 improvements". I guess advertising never changes.
