Decent quality body shop in Southern California?
-
Hey folks,
I'm looking for something that I am afraid might be gone forever. But I hope someone here can tell me where I can find it, if it still exists.
I'm looking for a body shop, or a guy who works out of his garage - that can do some solid bodywork on a pre 1960's car, and who I can pay for the work in bits over the course of 6 months or so.
I don't want to take it to a big modern body shop where the employees would be lost without a computer program to give an estimate or order parts.
And I don't want to take it the kind of place where they restore classics to immaculate condition at astronomical prices.
I've got an old Chevy that needs the better part of an entire floor welded into it, and probably the bottom couple inches of the doors.
A few years ago I knew five guys that could do it, but they've all retired.
The car runs and drives, and I can easily get it anywhere from Bakersfield to San Diego - that's about the geographical range I'm looking in.
Thanks in advance for any info you can share.
