i pulled my head due to a bent valve and i pulled the thermostat housing and found that no thermostat was housed there. is this okay? i would guess not because it would never get to operating temp which would explain the ridges on my cylinder walls.

so my question, is there a modern replacement for this termostat? i saw an adapter a while back but dont remember where it is. im pretty handy too if i could just make one

please help

Contact Walt Mordenti as he makes a complete kit for the thermostat housing.

To use regular thermostat in Hudson gooseneck, install 1 1/4" softplug in round bypass opening and drill 1/8" hole to allow some circulation.

I made a gasket out of fiberglass reinforced silicone, 1/8" thick, and cut a 1/8" hole at the bypass opening. Thermostat is a Stant 13076 (160°F).

thanks guys, sorry i havnt been on recently i just took my new job and things have been hectic.

so your saying if i put that plug in there the thermostat will fit right in there? ill probably buy walts adapter when i rebuild but if this is a quick fix im all for it.
