Best place for 262 engine rebuild kit?
-
I bent a valve while doing a compression test. doihhhh
well i had low compression anyways so i pulled the head to discover the bent valve, lots of carbon, and a big cylinder ridge:sick: ive been trying to decide whether to rebuild it or just get a $13 dollar valve and a head gasket and throw it back together. Being a broke college student my funds are kind of limited but i can manage. ANYWAYS
Hudsonmotorcarco.com
kit $1365.00 add 135 more
any other suggestions?
ive looked at kanters kit but i the dale cooper kit sounds like a better deal plus ive heard a lot of bad stuff on kanter plus really really expensive. -
not to mention i just bought an edmunds 2x2 manifold and plan to put headers on it. some ppl say that thats too much for a 262 but when i rebuild it will it be okay? so any other suggestions on the rebuild? can my normal universal engine stand hold up with the engine?
any help appreciated

Dale Cooper is a good parts source Zach.
As for the universal engine stand, consider the engine weight. I have an article with engine weights for all 1953 American automobiles and a few foreign cars.
The 262 Hudson 6 was listed as weighing 700 lbs. Now that is about 100 lbs heavier than a big block Chevy. I personally would not trust my Hudson engine on a cheepee engine stand, especially a 3 legged stand. However, if you have a engine stand strong enough to hold a Chry Hemi (750 lbs.) it will hold your engine.
Keep us posted on your engine build.
Have a good day.

My two cents worth. Dale is a Hudson guy, the other outfit is not. Don't buy Hudson parts from someone who might be less money. Some folk here have had a negitive experience with pistons from the west coast. Buy Dale's, He's done his homework on his parts and they are right. If ya haven't already, invest in a shop manual and you can do the assembly yourself. Obviously, machine work to done by a reputable Machine shop. Don't scrimp. There are folk here that will gladly help ya and encourage ya. I know this from experience. I couldn't have gotten to the point I am now on my 254 without folk here.

** I currently have a 308 hanging off of it right now.
+1 on this style of stand. I just hung my 308 last night and my
stand has handled everything I've thrown on it.

+1 on Dale Cooper too, great experiences dealing with him. -or- you can try to
save a couple $ ordering from someone who has likely never seen a 6 cyl. Hudson...
