Value Appreciation of 1992 Firebird 35K miles

    Good Afternoon!

I currently own a 1992 firebird in very good condition. It has only 35,000 miles. The only thing changed on the car is the stereo, otherwise 100% original.

The car has 305 cu. in. V8 and T Tops.

Kelly Blue book value (for what it's worth)is $3,600.

    I have a buyer for $7,000.

I would like to know how a car like this would appreciate in value.

How old does it need to be before appreciation accelerates?

How much could it appreciate in value?

Thanks for you input and have a great day!

I saw on Craigs List a person trying to sell an 89 IROC option level 3 with somthing like 20,000 miles for something like $14,000 or so. Basically that is asking for the depreciation value the day it was driven off the lot.
Of course I keep seeing still trying to be sold.

Low miles like that I feel is a good selling point. I don't know if KBB figures that or just that it is within the allowable limits and not over (10-12k per year???)

But it seems to take more than 20 years for the value of cars to go up. I remember back in 87 even though First gen Camaro's were a hot car they were still cheap to get. I was talking with a guy that owns and loves 55 Chevys. He said he could get them all day for $500-600 bucks back in 75. About 10 years ago he found one in a field. Had a different front end on it and looked like a semi hit it because the firewall was smashed in. No motor and trans, for $5000 and that was a steal. But that rolly chassis was near 50 years old.

You also have to look at like, the First Gen Camaro, only three model years. Chevy Tri-Five, only three model years. Even with the second gen Camaros it only seems to be the early 70-73 that are popular, why? Maybe because that style of the second gen only lasted for four model years. I don't think the eleven model years of the Third Gen F-bodies will be valuable for many years.

BTW, I bought an 89 IROC option level 4 with 87,000 miles for $5600. The price was $6000 but I deducted for the cost of doing intake gaskets. This car also had some goodies added to it.
Stereo, amp, woofer, tube rear control arm and pan hard rod, kick panel speakers, strut tower brace, SFC, Wonder bar, MSD 6AL, etc..
Pretty much I paid the KBB value+ cost of added parts+ a small portion of what labor would be to install said parts.
