Meanwhile, I'd try a new condenser ("It's ALWAYS the condenser") since it's such a cheap and easy "fix". It does sound like the coil is a possibility, though. Buy a bag of ice at your local convenience store, next time you're out for a drive. If it gives you trouble, use the ice to cool the coil and see if that gets you up and running.
Of course it could also be the infamous Vapor Lock rearing its ugly head.
