Reproduction Radiator Emblems
-
I know that some people reproduce radiator mascots but are reproduction radiator badges available from anywhere ?
A friend here in England has just bought a 1933 Terraplane Six. His badge is missing from the radiator and he's asked me this question. -
The emblem on my '34 was spoiled by the chrome platers polishing it too much, so that it can't be enameled because the lettering is now very faint.
As a stop-gap until I can find a nice one, I've used the white Hudson triangle emblem from the belt buckle available from the HET Store. I've superglued it to the mount on the grille. It's slightly curved which means it fits the mount's contours reasonably well. The sides of the triangle are about 1 1/2 inches long, so it looks about the right size.
This emblem will only work on a 1934 Hudson, the shape of the triangle changed in 1935.
Don't try to modify the shape of this buckle emblem. I tried to flatten one to make a fridge magnet but the enamel cracked and flaked when I applied pressure.
