Transmission Fluid "Flood"
-
I'm trying to get the 1956 Ford Fairlane my grandfather passed on to me in running order for the summer. Last fall, after I parked it for winter storage, there was a 1/2 qt or more leak underneath the engine on the right side slightly behind the right front tire, and the smell of tranny fluid that hit the exhaust pipes. When I moved it this spring, it did the same thing - I had it towed to a shop where admittedly they don't know how to work on a vehicle without a computer hookup, and they told me I need to have the transmission rebuilt.
I'm not a mechanic, and don't have the time to dig into this repair without shop help, but it seems like maybe this is a pump or seal issue? It only happens when the motor warms up and I try to move the vehicle. Is it possible this is coming back out the fill tube? Or a pump/seal somewhere?
Thanks for any helP!
