Fuel Delivery Problem
-
Getting my '54 H.SpClSd ready for the drive to OK City. Had trash in the gas tank, so took it to be boiled out, etc. It came back clean and painted. I got it back on the car, hooked everything back up and now the electric fuel pump won't pull gas up to the carb. The electric pump was already on the car and was operating ok before I took the tank off. It appears to be operating now, but no gas to the carb. Any ideas? (the car does not have a mechanical pump).Arkie

When I had that problem it turned out to be the "pickup" pipe inside the gas tank. When the folks at the repair shop cleaned the tank some of the solution they used to seal the tank was caught in the tube inside the tank and they did not properly clean it out. When I would disconnect the gas line up front and push air back into the tank the path was clear but when the electric pump would engage a small flap of sealer would fold over and clog the tank. When I removed the pipe it was in such bad shape that I had to replace it. Could be the issue?Brownie
