40s Headliner install help& outside trim retainers

High all I have a question for thoughs of you that have installed headliners in 40's Hudsons sedans. As you know the sides over the doors are sowen on the old headliners my question is how did you do the side with the new headliner? I have a couple of ideas but would hate to mess it up. Also look for ideas on outside trim retainers.
