Heater core options
-
Finally got some pressure on my heater core while rinsing it out, have a few pinholes. If I get it fixed at a radiator shop, what am I looking at? Any modern cores I can use with a little work? I don't mind popping a few new holes in the firewall. Anyone have a good one for sale?
I'm running a 16 psi radiator cap and a 180 deg thermostat.Six in a row makes it GO! -
i HAD A new HEATER CORE MADE A FEW YEARS BACK AT A RADIATOR SHOP..
If memory serves I think it ran around $100 -
I don't know what engine you are running but Hudson engines are low pressure. 180 is ok for the thermostat but the radiator cap should be 7-8 lbs. Often when a high pressure cap is used you will soon start to see seepage from the head gasket.
Just my 2 cents worth.

I'm parting a 50 and a 52, may have a good one..what year is yours? Todd

I'm aware there's a potential to leak with the higher pressure, but the better cooling is worth it. Haven't had any issues yet. The 180deg t-stat keeps condensation from building up in my oil since I get quite a bit of blow-by from #4.
My higher pressure is why I asked if there was a modern core that might fit.Six in a row makes it GO! -
