Does anyone here have contact with the W J Fields family of Washington state who own(ed) this '40 Hudson sport custom as recently as 2004? Thanks much.

Hi, Brownie Petersen here. I keep a registry of what I like to call the Martz cars. These were mostly Hudson's that were modified in the 50's using the standards or directions that came from Motor Trend Magazine (January 1952). I have five photo's of the car you are asking about. I was of the opinion that it was a 41 and belonged to Ed Wallace? I have an email address of twall1292@roadrunner.com

The photo's that I have are from ebay website: http://www.classiccar.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2162&d=1186091638 and was dated 8/3/2007

Should you find this car I would appreciate an update. Thanks,

Brownie, did you roll Tim Hutchins' registry in with yours?

No Hal, I have not. Could you send me a few photo's and tell me a bit about it?

Brownie, what I'm referring to is the registry that used to be kept for HET by Tim Hutchins who lived on Brick Street in Burlington, Iowa. Whitepages.com shows a listing for him with phone number still. Some 35 years ago he had a Martz-type and published a newsletter while maintaining a registry. He and his registry were listed in the WTN with the other registries. I was just curious if you had been in contact with him and perhaps had rolled his information into yours.

Nope, never heard about him. I looked up Tim on the whitepages and it would only give me data on a 29 year old person. would not give me data on a 62 year old, but that could be a possibility. I'll have to see if I can find some other data and get a number somewhere?

Call the number at 1306 Brick. That age isn't right (might reflect another at that address) but that's the same address from years ago. Timothy P. His sport custom was built by inmates in
an Iowa prison if I recall correctly. Pink I think.

Now that you mention the prison thing I have spoke with them. His boy has the car now and tells me that it is beyond restoration. He has not decided what he will do with it but it is sitting under a lean-to shelder. In our discussion he was able to pass me on to two other folks that still have their Martz cat.

Paul... just these pictures no lead with it... Tim did have a car and When I lived in Nebraska, I visited with him. He was a pretty avid Hudson custom guy then. Did not keep touch and now do not know where he might be. Check with Alan Doran in Boone IA.

    Paul,
In the material that I am sending to you there is a listing with photographs of most of the eleven cars that I located and talked to the folks who owned them. The last contact that I had with these folks was about a year ago. All the contact information was good at that time. By now, from what they said, there is one on the road and one that is being built. Other than yours, I doubt that from the ones that I spoke with there will be another one that will see the open road again.
