How about some stories of what you have found in a Hudson during a restoration that caused a SMELL.I had a smell that I looked high and low for and finally found it when I took off the rear fender, check it out.

Pretty obvious about source of smell in the '52 I bought out of central Montana- mouse manure! Everywhere! I'm posting not because of unique or unusual situation, but to remind everybody about Hanta Virus, in mouse manure from drier climates (Kangaroo mouse, I think). ALWAYS mask up (or even better, use a breathing apparatus). I masked up and tried not to disturb it until I got the seats out- then I put together every vacuum cleaner hose extension I could find, so I could stand outside the car while I vacuumed it out. Dump the vacuum out in the woods, not in the shop garbage can. That was several years ago (Ray in Las Vegas bought the car and has nearly completed it), and I'm still alive, so I guess I did OK.
Is the guy still posting on here, who told the vinegaroon story a few years ago? We had some fun with that one. -
Removed rear seat from my 51, Found several old coins, Plus a bunch of eaten nuts and debris including green stamps?

I think I have a rats nest in my trunk, Gotta get it open to see. I wont crawl in through the back seat. 16 people have died so far from getting that in there lungs. Ill wait tillwarmer weather, try and get it open no keys. John

Maxine loved her old '54 Hornet that she bought for a song back in 1968. Back then she was a relatively young woman of 27. It had the rare power steering, power brakes, Dual range Hydra and of course Twin-H -Power. Over the years she babied this car, keeping it pristine and reliable. However, as the years went by she drove it less, mostly taking her friends to church functions, dinners out, to bridge club, etc. In the past few weeks though, she would often notice a bad smell filling the passenger compartment of the car. Surprisingly, none of her friends mentioned the smell to her, although she did notice they often looked uncomfortable, shifting in the seats, squirming, sometimes gasping audibly. Maxine finally decided to take it to her favorite long time mechanic, Joel.
Maxine tells Joel:"There is often this bad smell filling the car, usually embarrassing enough, when I'm driving my friends around. Being such polite people, they never mentioned it to me, but it's quite obvious there is a stink in the car when it happens!" Joel says, "Ok, why don't you drive the car while I ride along so that it will be driven the way you usually do when this bad smell pops up, that's our best chance of duplicating the situation." They get in the Hornet, with Maxine at the wheel, and Joel riding shotgun. As Maxine pulls out into traffic, a Budweiser truck is forced to swerve into the left lane, the driver honking his horn furiously at her. As she approaches a red light, she drives right on through, narrowing avoiding being T-boned on Joel's side. Next she makes a left turn across oncoming traffic onto a one way street, going the wrong way. Somehow she makes it to the next street and finally turns onto a two way street, thankfully on the right side. Finally, she notices the smell....."There it is Joel, that smell! Can you smell it??" Joel turns to look at Maxine. "SMELL IT???" he replies, "Maxine......I'M SITTING IN IT!" -
