Is anyone out there into Model A Fords too? I need some info for this Phaeton project I'm starting. Thanks.

Roger:
I've been into Model A's for many years and have owned MANY Model A's!! What did you need to know about the Phaeton?
Gary Gillen -
I've got a '28 Special Coupe- never really been "into" them, but have some old parts catalogs, etc., and some limited knowledge. Will help if I can.

Gary,
Hudsons are relatively new for me; I got a 46 pick up for 'graduating' from the Navy in 2007 after 26 years. I sold it to finance the 52 Wasp I got from Larry Kennedy.
My first A was a standard coupe in high school, in 1977, near Cleveland OH. I drove it for 11 years. Then (1988-92) I built a 26 Touring while in the Navy in CA. Next I had a 29 Briggs-bodied fordor in VA Beach, VA. -Traded that one for a 24 Roadster. Next I built a (mostly) 22 Depot Hack, then sold it for somthing else. I've been driving a 27 Roadster Pick-up since 2003. I recently picked up a chassis with a Aug 30 (matching) engine/chassis serial number. While looking for parts I came across an indented firewall half-phaeton and got it. My plan is to get it on the road this summer. I'll put the turtle deck back on the T and use the bed on the A until I can locate/assemble the back half.
This week's questions are as follows:
What can I use for sub-rails? Repo's aren't listed for 30-31 Phaetons.
Is the back half 30-31 specific, or can I look for a 28-29 back half too?
I want to read as much as I can as I begin the project, but Phaeton data seems hard to come by. Do you have any sources?

Roger:
We bought out '52 Hudson Hornet from Larry Kennedy also. We picked it up 2 years ago after we lost our '50 Super Six in a garage fire, along with my '30 Model-A Victoria. Very devastating fire. The worse thing was I was going to put the Model A in storage later that day (the fire started about 2:00 on a Saturday morning - had a battery charger on the Super Six overnight and caused the old wiring to start the fire). The Victoria was an old restoration and belonged to me and my folks for about 20 years.
In regards to your specific questions, I'm not sure about the sub-rails, but u can call Bert's Model "A" Center in Denver - 303-293-3673 or 1-800-321-1931. The back half IS specific to 30-31, so a 28-29 won't work. Again, in regards to question 3, I would contact Bert's. Steve is the name of the guy who is very knowledgeable about A's.
Also, if you need any parts for your Wasp, I have quite a few.
Good luck. Happy Restoration.

Sorry for your losses, but your current ride looks great! Mine's a little rougher, but I'm not scared of shopping carts in the parking lot!R/ Roger. -
Roger:
When you memtioned the back half, the bumper supports are different. Not sure if you need those, but the two we have are somewhat different. We have a 30 tudor and a speedster assembled from mostly 29 parts. Running gear is original rebuilt, but the cowl, radiator, seats are lowered. Call if you want. Bob
Is the phaeton a two door or 4 door model? -
Bob,
It's a four door. I'll get back to you on the bumper supports; thanks. I still can't seem to get a picture up. I red through the other post on uploading images and am getting the same thing as RL Chilton. I'll keep trying.
