My Hudson survived the Tsunami. I was surprised that the Tsunami was as big as it was, I stayed up till 3:30 AM when it hit but watching it on TV it looked like it was going to be like the one last year which was only some large swells. In Kahului it actually went as high as 9-12 ft. and went inland about a 1/4 mile. No damage though just some flooding. I took some pics this early morning and one of them made the TV news.

This was taken 10 hrs after the Tsunami and the next one was taken just 8 minutes later. The ocean is still not stable.

Jeff, Walt here. Did you put these picture on the forum. Margaret is hoping or Hotel is not in any way getting hit with the high waves. She has plans to get there soon. Say hello to Joyce for her. Keep that 46 dry.

Just watched the 20-20 show on the telly that was talking about Japan. They showed only a few photos of Hawaii and a few of California. Your heart goes out to the folks that have had to live through this one...

By the way Walt, I started installing the carborator on the English Hudson today. Noticed that I had a cracked manifold that I will need to repair. I'll start a new thread when I get it back home...

    Hey Walt,

No your hotel is all good. You would think it would have gotten up to it since it is so close to the ocean but the worst was only around Kahului Harbor. I took those pictures and loaded them up. My sons girlfriend has a picture where fish washed up on the low road in Kihei. I will try and get it.

Yes Brownie it must be really hard on those in Japan. I heard they had some 35 eartquakes today and 25 of the were greater than 6.0. We had an earthquake here before the Tsunami hit but it was only a 4.5.

Which island? We were just at Kona on the big island, and someone posted a great video of water going over the sea wall on Ali'i Drive. Tore up the pavement a bit, but no great damage. They evacuated all the turistas to a mall parking lot, to sleep in their cars.

    Mike,

We live on Maui. The Big Island probably got hit with the Tsunami around 3:45 AM or so. There were several waves and they kept bouncing between the Ilsands the whole day. Most boats stayed out of the harbors because of this. I always feel bad for tourist when it rains for a week or a hurricane is conming or something like this happens.

Your answer made Margaret happy. Lahaina Shores is her favorite place. Quiet beaches, best hotel and an easy drive to all places. She says no more driving on THE ROAD TO HANA. Walt
