Who all is snowed in?
-
The Blizzard went thru norhtern Indiana with snow thunder, and big drifts
and everything closed today. My county is under Level 1 snow emergency and no travel is permitted and the road is not plowed at 11 am.
So who else is snowed in today? -
No new snow here in Northern Utah valleys but the weather man did just report 46 below zero not far from me. It is a bit cold.... I'm going to a car club meeting tonight and I hope the car does not freeze....Brownie

No snow here in So. Cal. Sun's shining, winds blowing, and it's colder than a mother-in-laws kiss outside!
-
I'm in Florida now but my home just outside Chicago had it's share.

Plus the power has been out for the last 24 hours.

Had 35 mph winds and snow last night, pretty much blew the snow off the driveway!

Sun's trying to get out here in Memphis - but it's still in the low 30's day/20's at night. But no snow. Ole Missy will be on the rampage in a couple more months as the snow pack up north begins to melt.

For anyone who might think Santa Fe is too far south to get cold, we set a new record last night. When I left for work this morning it was 23 degrees below zero. But its a dry cold...

Was snowed in one day, lots of running the snowblower. Saw three guys get their 4x4s stuck on my road, before the snowplow cleared it.
Day after the storm I went to national meet city Pontiac Mi. Am headed next to Milwaukee another national meet city. -

New Mexico is in a Governor-declared state of emergency - 35,000 lost their natural gas service yesterday with record cold continuing. We stayed warm, as service to the capital city was not interrupted (go figure). The good news is all government offices are closed (along with many others) so I'm at home this morning...HETfortyqtpi@earthlink.net (drop the HET)

I was talking to my youngest daughter, Debbie, who lives in Southern Maine. She said after this last snow storm the fellow they hired to plow the driveway came by, waded into the house and told them he hadn't forgotten them and that he would be back shortly.
Deb said he came back about a half-hour later with a front end loader!!! :S There's just so much snow up there there's no place to put it with a regular truck plow. She said he did a nice job shoving it back into the back yard.

They get storms like that - but they are unusual. It's called a "Maine Winter" and when they get one, they buried. A few years back I was doing yard work with my son-in-law - which, in the winter, meant snow removal. This one particular year it started snowing in early December - and was still coming down in early January. One storm after another. Friend of mine had been clearing wood-lots using a Model B John Deer tractor. He'd gotten out of the wood business, so I bought his tractor, with a front end bucket, for $500. Two days after I bought the thing we got something like 3 storms in a week - I made $2500 with that tractor in that week alone.

You earned every cent of it, if you were clearing snow with a B. I'll bet you wished for a third arm several times! For the unfamiliar- Old John Deere tractors had a hand clutch- so when doing loader work, you need one hand for the steering wheel, one for the loader lever, and one for the clutch. The math is easy- operating the tractor is not!
