ClassicCar hacked
-
Earlier today I went to log onto our beloved forum and discovered the site had been hacked - this included the chat page.
I sent out a blanket email to most of those on here, and included Ted Welch.
I applaud Ted and his crew for getting us back up and running again in short order. It's nice to have this resource and know that those in charge are on the ball and quick to take care of problems.
Thanks Ted.

I also got that hacked message. So glad to see that the site was up and running shortly after that. Very good work guys! Thanks!

Hopefully, there wasn't a virus on it.

When I came onto the board, it had the "Hacked by so and so" with the druid screen- I got out of it quickly, but of course, viruses invade in nano-seconds, so I'm sure it wouldn't have been quick enough- but I've had no ill effects.
Do recall a situation where a site got hacked, and the screen said "You've got 5 minutes to figure this out." Of course, webmaster thought that meant all manner of evil things would happen in 5 minutes. He didn't get it figured out, and after 5 minutes, the screen changed to "Well, you didn't figure it out- better luck next time!" Then the hack disappeared as quickly as it had come, and the site was back to normal.
Unfortunately, most hackers aren't as benevolent. -
Thanks to our swift Hudson crew, we were notified ahead of our own security monitoring system than something was a rye on ClassicCar.com
Fortunately, there were no viruses or other harmful bugs tied to the invasion. Aside from bruising some sensibilities (bad language) the event was found to be harmless and the work of nut-balls abroad. I was all to happy to block out the entire country of Turkey without a second thought.
Its getting so, that most of the world is now blocked from using our services due to the lame ethics of server hosts in other countries. You can't run stuff like this in the USA and get away with it. I am sure people try, but they are caught and shutdown right away.
Again, a big thanks goes out the Hudson supporters for help ending the attack and making the site safe for other users.
