262 head torque spec and sequence
-
What's the head torque an sequence of a 53 262 engine? Please help I just want to tighten them just incase they have loosened.
-
7/16-14 Head cap screw specs from the Hudson Shop Service manual are 60-65
Sequence is from the center outward evenly from side to side and end to end.
You should buy one from the club store. -
If you have Walt's tech tip books, volume one, (1) go to page 17 and page 46 and you will have the info you need. Walt.

The way Hudson designed to torque heads had a lot of blown headgaskets or leakage on the left side between cylinders 3 and 4. Walt.schillaz wrote:Hope this helps.

thanks guys! so wait... are you saying i shouldnt follow this sequence? haha

My way is the way we did it on our Hornet racing engines and never blew a headgasket. Using the Hudson way guys were having headgasket problems. That is all I will say. Walt.
