Gaskets 1954 Ambassador
-
We need new gaskets for the Ex-pipe that fits on the side of the head. Also Tthe gaskets to mount the Dual carbs to the head. Gasket kits for the Carter carbs 2-of them. Thanks to all RUDY

Try Bob Walker in Anaheim, Ca. or Lester Harris in Minden, Nv. for the gaskets. I don't have Bob's number but Lester's is 775-267-2559. As I recall, there were no gaskets between the exhaust pipe/manifold and the head, just metal to metal. If you tightened them too much, you'd crush the pipe and have to get a new one. Shouldn't be a problem for a good muffler shop with a tubing bender. Good luck.

Steve is right. Try Lester Harris.

I owned two 1950 Ambassadors, and as previously stated, there are no gaskets between the header pipe and the curved bosses on the side of the head. The clamps will distort the pipe when over tightened and make the pipe leak. Now that the cars are older, the mating surfaces of those curved bosses are more likely to have rusting and pitting. Wire brush them clean, and smear a thin film of the Copper RTV sealant (good for 1700F) on them so that the pits are filled and then intall the new header pipe and torque the clamps to no more than the specs in the Nash shop manual.
